Born in Rimini, he starts studying piano at a very young age, moving then to singing, graduating at Pesaro’s Conservatorio Rossini under Robleto Merolla. Still a student, he wins the 2nd prize at the Ferruccio Tagliavini competition, the 1st prize and the “Teatro dell’Opera di Roma” and “Orchestra Sinfonica della Karinzia” prizes at the R. Zandonai competition, as well as the 1st prize and the “Circolo Lirico G. Verdi” prize at the Gianfranco Masinicompetition in Reggio Emilia.
He made his debut in the title role of Mozart’s Don Giovanni, in concert at the Musica Riva Festival in Riva del Garda (conducted by Isaac Karabtchevsky) and, in October 2001 at the Wexford Festival in Dvoŕak’s Jakobin, prized with a grant and recorded live by Fonè. His Italian debut was at Comunale in Bologna in Barbiere di Siviglia and at San Carlo in Naples in Tancredi. He sang his first Conte Rodolfo in La Sonnambula at Teatro Regio in Parma, at Teatro Alighieri in Ravenna and at Teatro Bellini in Catania, where he also sings Colline in La Bohème, which he also sang in Parma and at Grimaldi Forum in Monte Carlo with Torre del Lago. He made his debut as Raimondo in Lucia di Lammermoor at Carlo Felice in Genova, conducted by Fournillier, directed by Graham Vick (published on dvd by Tdk), as Leucippo in Zelmira at the Edinburgh International Festival (recorded live by Opera Rara), and in Handel’s Giulio Cesare at Teatro Comunale in Bologna, conducted by Rinaldo Alessandrini. Another highly successful portrayal was his debut as Ferrando in Il Trovatore at San Carlo in Naples, in Busseto, at Stuttgart’s Staatsoper, in Thessaloniki and, with Teatro San Carlo on a Japan tour. He sang Oroe in Rossini’s Semiramide at Teatro Regio in Turin and at the Rome Opera, and made his debut at Maggio Musicale Fiorentino with Rossini’s Petite Messe Solennelle, which he sang also at the Spoleto Festival, at Teatro delle Muse in Ancona and at San Carlo in Naples.
On the concert platform we remember also Mozart’s Requiem in Turin, Rossini’s Stabat Mater at Teatro Bellini in Catania, Mozart’s Kronungmesse conducted by Christopher Hogwood in Bologna and Verdi’s Messa da Requiem in Mexico. He appeared several times in Recital for the Rosenblatt Series in London at St. John's Smith Square with pianist Vincent Scalera.
