Born in Lamezia Terme, he studies at «Torrefranca» Conservatory in Vibo Valentia, obtaining a degree in clarinet and, afterwards, at the « Corelli» Conservatory in Messina where he obtains his degree in singing. In the meantime he gets his degree in Philosophy at Messina’s University, with full marks.
In 2002 he wins the prestigious International competition Toti dal Monte in Treviso, and he’s among the finalists of the 53rd International Viotti competition in Vercelli. In 2003 he’s a finalist at As.Li.Co and in 2005 he wins the third prize at Voci Verdiane competition in Busseto; the 2nd prize and special prize for “Best Tenor” at the 11th International Ferruccio Tagliavini competition.
For some years he takes part at the Opera Giocosa Festival in Reggio Calabria, singing the roles of Lamberto in Pergolesi’s Il Maestro di Musica, Nemorino in L’elisir d’amore and Paolino in Il matrimonio segreto. He’s then Beppe/Arlecchino in Leoncavallo’s Pagliacciand Ramiro in Rossini’s Cenerentolain Treviso. With As.Li.Co. he sings the role of Conte d’Almaviva in Il barbiere di Siviglia, at Teatro Dal Verme in Milan, Orfeo in Orfeo ed Euridice, Nemorino in Elisir d’amoreand Alfredo in La Traviata in Bergamo, Brescia, Cremona, Como and Pavia. He makes his debut at the Operetta Festival in Trieste in Lehàr’s Paganini and takes part in the Japan tour of Fondazione Toscanini’s Orchestra singing Verdi arias at the prestigious Yokohama Minato Mirai Hall and Sapporo Concert Hall Kitara conducted by Lorin Maazel.
In 2006 he obtains a personal success for his debut as Fenton in Falstafffirst in Busseto and then in Pisa, Lucca, Livorno and Ravenna. He then sings his first Pinkerton in Madama Butterflyin Bern and Mascagni’s Messa in Gloria in Budapest with La Scala’s Chorus conducted by Bruno Casoni and, in the same year, he makes his debut at La Scala with Rossini’s Petite Messe solennelle.
In 2007 he makes his debut at the Salzburg Festival as Valerio in the world premiere of Cimarosa’s Il ritorno di Don Calandrinoconducted by Riccardo Muti. He also returns to the Operetta Festival in Trieste as Hans in Lombardo-Ranzato’s Paese dei campanelli and appears in concert with the Orchestra of Pomeriggi Musicali at Teatro Dal Verme in Milan and at Teatro Regio in Turin.
In 2008 he sings once again Fenton in Verdi’s Falstafffor Petruzzelli in Bari with Ruggiero Raimondi, and performs the tenor role in the Pub Quartet in the opera 1984, written and conducted by Lorin Maazel at Teatro alla Scala in Milan. He then returns to the Operetta Festival in Trieste as Principe Ciclamino in Lombardo-Ranzato’s Cin-ci-là and sings Nemorino in Elisir d’amorein Chioggia and Tashkent. At the Accademia Chigiana in Siena, conducted by Gianluigi Gelmetti, he makes his debut as Rinuccio in Puccini’s Gianni Schicchi, followed by Haydn’s Harmoniemesse for MI-TO with La Scala’s Chorus and Orchestra Verdi in Milan, conducted by Bruno Casoni.
Among his recent engagements: Cavalier Giocondo in Rossini’s La pietra del paragone in Sassari, Il paese dei campanelli at Teatro Filarmonico in Verona (directed by Maurizio Nichetti). His future engagements will bring him to: Catania for Elisir d’amore, Torre del Lago for Turandot, Verona for Cin-ci là, Bari for Macbeth and Novara for Pagliacci.
He has worked with many prestigious conductors such as: Lorin Maazel, Riccardo Muti, Gianluigi Gelmetti; and important directors like: Vizioli, Pagliaro, Landi, Nichetti, Scaparro and Roberto De Simone.
